We are the global generation. Chew is a collaboration of creatives who bring you all the underground art, music and design news, fashion and imminent pop-culture trends you need to know about.
We are not mass. Chew is the underground publication of established and emerging creatives who set trends and form movements. Chew inspires and is inspired by you. Sourcing and mobilising talent both locally and globally – from photographers in India and illustrators in Berlin to street artists in Canada and writers in Italy – Chew brings the artists to the artists.
We are the connected generation. Chew pushes the boundaries of creativity and challenges traditional forms of expression, embracing all media platforms to bring you each edition any way you need it – digitally, mobile, print, twitter, facebook, parties – however you need us, you have us.
We are not routine. Every edition of Chew is an original, dynamic conversation between edgy design and the creatives we feature. We follow no set formula because pop-culture can be driven but not dictated. Chew magazine. We are you.

Launched as an online publication in 2008, Chew has taken the big leap to print. After Hours, in collaboration with PUMA, is our inaugural, limited-edition print publication. The bold, edgy and innovative design Chew has become known for has grown a dedicated following of loyalists who’ve demanded a print version for reading on trains, planes and in the bath. We’re not neglecting our online publication though, in fact, we’ve relaunched and expanded to make it mobile friendly so that you can get your design fix wherever, whenever. ’Cos that’s how we roll.

The new issue looks great! I particularly love the series ‘Siren Call’ by Renata Paskal and ‘A Woman Scorned’ by Jurij Treskow. So happy to be in the same issue as such talented artists. – Benjamin Kwan (contributing photographer)
Just thought I’d drop in to say thanks again for featuring me&oli in the latest issue of Chew. Your magazine is GORGEOUS! – Lalita Lu (owner of me&oli – interviewed for the October 2010 Girl’s Issue)
My favourite homegrown SA online magazine is celebrating its birthday and 16th issue. Chew magazine is definitely a magazine that doesn’t disappoint, with a choice of covers and fashion spreads that make me wish all the items were in my closet. Not only that but anyone can contribute material or have their brand and fashion products plugged in the magazine. Fashion from Africa has for too long been side-lined, Chew is where it’s at. A platform for talented designers, graphic designers, fashion journalists and all-round creatives to show off their skills. CHEW MAGAZINE I LOVE YOU! – Ntchindi Shumba (blogger)
WOW! This is just a fan note from a fan of note… I discovered Chew a few hours ago and I can’t get enough! Thanks for some inspiration, I really was starting to lose hope. So yay for me and you guys! Best of the best to you - Lerato
